Country music

Many people don't appreciate Country music. Nowadays everyone only listens to rap or hip-hop music, i want people to realize there is other music out there besides just rap or hip-hop. I myself never really liked Country music until Taylor Swift came along. Taylor Swift is now one of my favorite artists. I never thought that i would like her music since it was Country but she really proved me wrong. She writes all her lyrics on her own and they come straight from her heart and tell her life stories. Many of her songs teenagers can definitely relate to. Some of my favorite songs from her are "Fifteen" and "You belong with me".
Many teens out there I'm sure can relate to the song "Fifteen". ("When your fifteen and somebody tells you they love you your gonna believe them") when your fifteen your really gullible and if someone that you may have only known for a day tells you they love you, you will most likely believe them. "You belong with me" is a song about a boy that she likes and he is in a relationship with another girl, she explains throughout the song why he should be with her over the girl that he is in the relationship with. Many teen girls face love problems on a day to day basis. All of Taylor's songs are about her problems and things that she deals with on a day to day basis. I will never forget Dec 11th when i went to Jingle Ball and saw her perform, it was one of the best days of my life!

Below is a video of her performing "You belong with me" at Jingle Ball 09 and her music video for "Fifteen".

  1. I have such an admiration for artists who write their own lyrics. I think it puts more meaning into the song. I agree with you about Taylor Swift. She has changed the idea of country music. Her songs are easy to relate to. She has definitely changed many peoples opinions of country music.

  2. In all seriousness, Taylor Swift is the best human being alive. Because of her I have also taken an interest in country music and I've opened up my musical tastes to Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, and many others. Not only does Taylor write her own music, but she is also the sweetest and most down to Earth person in the celebrity industry. I have so much respect for people like her.

I completely agree with you, and lately many teenage girls are relating to Swift's songs, and she has become a huge hit, winning many awards. Her music deserves these awards, since she is an amazing song writer and singer.

  3. Interesting post. Jenny's quote is a bit extreme, but I am glad you have all found a positive role model.

  4. Personally, I couldn't even tell that her music was country but I do think she's one of the few pure spirits in the industry. She's classy and like your post says, relates to a lot of other teenagers. She's become very successful and fast. I think country music should be included more in the award shows and MTV channels because I enjoy it but forget about it because of the lack of advertisement. Is all of her music country?

Honestly, I'm not sure how to distinguish country from pop music except for the country singers' accents and maybe pop music is more upbeat. Either way I do like country music more than pop because it has more feelings in the songs whereas pop music is more for dancing. I'm not her biggest fan but she's very talented. I know you must have a bit of hatred for her since she went out with Joe Jonas! Overall, I agree with you.

  5. Well I think your statement about everyone only listening to rap and hip-hop (which rap is actually a type of hip-hop) is kind of biased to maybe you and your friends only. A lot of people that I know, including me, like many different music genres besides rap/ hip-hop. A lot of people that I know also listen to rock, country, metal, r&b, reggae, and many others.
